Light Requirements

Prefers bright, indirect light. Green varieties tolerate medium/low light, variegated types need brighter spots to keep their pattern. Avoid harsh, prolonged direct sun.

Watering Needs

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Keep lightly moist but never soggy. Expect faster drinking in warm months, and slow down in winter.

Humidity & Temperature

Syngoniums enjoy higher humidity (50%+) but adapt well to normal homes. Ideal temps 60-85°F (16-29°C). Avoid cold drafts and heat vents.

Soil & Fertilizing

Use a fluffy, airy mix (potting soil + perlite + a bit of bark). Feed every 4 weeks in spring/summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer, and reduce in cooler months.

Pet Safety

Toxic to pets if chewed (calcium oxalate). Place out of reach.

Fun Fact

As it matures, Syngonium’s leaf shape changes from arrow-like to multi-lobed, especially when climbing.

Native Region

Central & South America (from Mexico through Bolivia), tropical forest understory.
